Senior AI Engineer – RAG, Open Source LLMs & Kubernetes
Permanent position at Twoday | Consultant role with a public sector client
Do you want to build AI solutions that move beyond prototypes — and into real production systems used by thousands of users?
At Twoday, we are looking for a hands-on AI Engineer to develop and operate AI-powered assistants and chatbot solutions for a large public sector organisation.
This role focuses on practical implementation, integration and operational AI engineering in a modern open-source AI stack.
About the role
You will work on AI-powered assistants and chatbot solutions integrated into existing systems and internal data sources.
The technical environment is based on:
Open-source LLMs
RAG pipelines
Kubernetes
EU-based cloud and hosting providers
Modern observability and DevOps practices
You will help build AI solutions that are scalable, maintainable and production-ready.
Your responsibilities
You will:
Build and maintain RAG pipelines
Work with embeddings, chunking, ranking and retrieval
Develop AI-powered assistants and chat interfaces
Integrate AI services with APIs and existing systems
Deploy and operate AI applications on Kubernetes
Work with observability, logging and monitoring
Help document and hand over solutions to operations and internal teams
We are looking for someone who has experience with
LLM-based applications in production
RAG pipelines and vector databases
Open-source models such as Mistral, Llama or Qwen
Python and FastAPI (or similar)
Kubernetes at application level (deployments, manifests, Helm)
Docker and cloud-native workflows
API integration and asynchronous processing
Logging, monitoring and troubleshooting in production systems
Ability to work onsite in Copenhagen as required. Currently, for this particular client, you can work from remote Wednesdays only, and are required to work onsite the rest of the time
And also:
Fluent Danish and English, written and spoken
Strong hands-on development capabilities
Ability to work independently in a fast-moving environment
It is an advantage if you also have experience with
vLLM or similar model serving technologies
Qdrant, OpenSearch, Elasticsearch or similar vector/search platforms
Keycloak or OIDC integrations
EU-based hosting providers (Hetzner, Scaleway, OVHcloud)
CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code
GDPR, NIS2 and AI governance requirements
